An Introduction to Custom Properties

The image above shows an example of what you will see when you click on the 'Custom' tab in Page Properties.

• Name - contains the name of the Custom Property.
• Type - tells you what type of Custom Property this is. This will either be 'Text' or 'Selection'. If the type is Text, you can write your value in the Current Value box. If the type is Selection, there will be a dropdown list of options for you to choose from.
• Use Default - determines whether the Custom Property is using the default value, or the value that you have chosen. This is set to True by default so if you want to change the value of a Custom Property, you will need to set this to False.
• Current Value - shows you the current value of this custom property. This is where you can change the value of the property. If the 'Use Default' column is set to True, this field will be greyed out and you will not be able to change it. To change the value, make sure that the Use Default column is set to False and simply choose an option from the dropdown or type in the value.
• Default Value - shows you the default value of this Custom Property. Not all Custom Properties have a default value, so this column may be blank. If the Use Default column is set to true, this is the value that will be used.
