What is a Widget?
A widget is like adding a mini version of Twitter to your website. Twitter is all about sharing information and the new Twitter widgets allow you to incorporate this onto your website. Widgets enable visitors to view your latest information, meaning they don’t have to be logged into twitter or be on the twitter website to see the information, it will be visible on your web-page.
How do you create the widget on Twitter?
Access widgets from the ‘goodies’ link in the footer of all Twitter web pages. To add a Twitter widget to your website:
1.Log into Twitter, or create an account if you don’t have one yet.
2.Click 'Goodies' at the very bottom of the page
3.Select ‘Widgets’
4.Select 'My Website'
5.Select a profile widget (to show your tweets) or a search widget (customised by you!)
6.Select and copy the code produced and copy it to your clipboard.
Adding Twitter Widget code to your website
To add the Twitter code to your website, you will need to paste the code into a ‘snippet’, to do this follow the instructions for creating a snippet here:
http://www.cubik.co.uk/help/administration/control-panel/snippets
When you have created the snippet, make sure you have copied the snippet to yourclipboard, then go to the relevant page on your website, edit the page and paste it into a content box. The snippet should appear as 2 curly brackets, the word snippet and a number.
You can then Save and exit the page and your twitter widget should now be available, see below for our Twitter Widget:
